Relaunch for a 3-star city hotel in Salzburg, in German and English: the direct booking runs through every page, and its share rose from 31 to 43 per cent.
31 → 43 %share of direct bookings, before and after the relaunch (according to the hotel)

What was there, what I decided, what changed.
- 01
Starting point
Family-run 3-star city hotel in Salzburg-Schallmoos, 1.1 km from the old town. Many guests came through booking portals. The 2025 relaunch in German and English came from one person, from concept to launch.
- 02
Decision
The direct booking runs through every page: one button, always in the same place, and a benefit only for guests who book direct, free parking, shown as a band on the very first screen. Right below the opening section guests check availability (arrival, departure, number of guests); the booking itself happens on a dedicated booking page. The navigation sticks to four items, rooms, breakfast, about us and location, and the home page shows guest reviews from Google and Booking.com.
- 03
Result
The share of direct bookings rose from 31 to 43 per cent (figures from the hotel).
Built withBricks · Automatic.css · Frames · WPML (German and English) · connected booking engine · local SEO
The site has five main pages, home, rooms, breakfast, about us and location, plus its own booking page. Each one exists in German and English, the English version under /en/, its booking page under /en/booking/. WPML sets the hreflang tags for both languages and an x-default pointing to the German version.
The home page answers the questions guests have before they book: how far it is to the old town, whether they can park at the hotel, how the rooms are equipped, and that the hotel only takes guests aged 18 and over. The routes to the old town, the cathedral, the Festival Hall, the railway station and the airport are listed with distances. At the end come frequently asked questions, including the room rate and the star rating.
Everything is built in Bricks with Automatic.css and Frames. The hotel’s booking engine is embedded on the booking page. Titles, descriptions and structured data run through SEOPress, consent for analytics through Complianz.
